Francesca is a writer, director and 1st AD with experience in commercials, docuseries, and short films. In 2020, she directed the Loading Docs short, One Year On, and has developed several commercial docuseries, case studies, and ads with her company, Sonder Films. She also co-wrote the NZFC-funded short film Arrival.

After a “mature” autism diagnosis at 32, Francesca has reignited her interest in writing, with the goal of telling stories about outsiders and neurodivergent thinkers. A lover of genre films, she uses sci-fi, horror, and fantasy to explore stories of identity and dissociation. In 2024, she wrote her first screenplay, a folk-horror called Changeling with support from the NZWG. Her second screenplay, In The Flesh is currently at treatment stage.
